The hotel was built to house the film talent and crews of the Hollywood’s Western Film industry, shooting in the nearby Alabama Hills. John Wayne, Bing Crosby, Roy Rogers and all the other singing cowboys stayed here. Additionally, other movies were filmed nearby, such as, Django Unchained, Ironman and Tremors, as well as countless vehicle commercials.
